Due to a lack of wind, racing was abandoned on day two of the first-ever J/70 North American Championship in Annapolis, MD. Bennet Greenwald will take his lead into the final day of competition, which gets underway one hour earlier at 10:00 a.m. EDT Saturday. Perseverance compiled just 12 points after Thursday’s three races. Joel Ronning’s Catapult stands in second place with 22 points. Martin Kullman’s Touch 2 Play and Peter McChesney’s Trouble are next in line with 41 points. This inaugural event is title-sponsored by Hillman Focused Advantage Fund and hosted by the Annapolis Yacht Club and J/70 Fleet #1. PRO Sandy Grosvenor and her Race Committee team scrutinized the conditions constantly throughout the day, but the breeze never piped up enough to meet the required minimum. Racing concludes Saturday for the 90 teams from Bermuda, Canada, Mexico and the USA. Visit www.j70nac.com for complete regatta information and live racing updates.
