MARCH 2, 2022 (Ruskin, Florida, USA) — The International J/70 Class Association today announced that it has agreed to follow the recommendation of World Sailing and the International Olympic Committee that Russian and Belarusian athletes and officials not be invited to or participate in international competitions.
Accordingly, the Class will take suitable steps to implement this action at all upcoming Class-sponsored events until further notice.
The Class further follows World Sailing in strongly recommending that our National Class Associations, Organizing Authorities, and recognized fleets implement this measure to suspend the participation of Russian and Belarusian athletes and officials in J/70 events. The Class stands ready to support and assist our partner organizations in working through the details of this action.
We are now asking our J/70 sailing family to come together as a sporting force for good by working with us at this incredibly difficult time.
