The Reial Club Nàutic de Barcelona hosted the second event of the Barcelona Spring Series (J/70), held in Barcelona waters, where a total of seven races were completed under variable weather conditions that tested the consistency of the fleet.
The programme began on Friday with two races. Saturday, marked by a long wait on the water due to light winds, eventually allowed three races to be completed once the breeze filled in. On Sunday, with lighter conditions, two additional races were sailed, completing a total of seven races with one discard coming into play.
In this scenario, Noticia, helmed by Luis Martín Cabiedes (RCN Barcelona), proved to be the most consistent team of the fleet, delivering a very solid performance to secure overall victory with a total of 9 points.
Second place went to the German team Diva, helmed by Kai-Uwe Hollweg (SKWB), finishing on 17 points after maintaining consistent results throughout the event. The podium was completed by Hang Ten, helmed by Mon Cañellas (CN Cambrils), tied on points with the Germans in a very close battle for the top positions.
A total of 18 boats from six nationalities took part, once again confirming the international profile of the circuit and Barcelona’s appeal as a key venue for the J/70 class.
In the provisional overall standings after this second event, Noticia (Luis Martín Cabiedes, RCNB) leads with 27 points. Hang Ten – Esla Yachts (Martínez / Cañellas / Guillem, CN Cambrils) follows with 33 points, while HSN Sailing Team (Terrades / Martínez Doreste / López / Del Castillo, RCNGC / RCNB) sits in third place with 46 points. The top five is completed by Waikiki (Jürgen Waldheim) with 76 points and Let it Be (Baltzer / Murray, RCND) with 78 points.
The fleet now looks ahead to the final event of the Barcelona Spring Series, scheduled for 15–17 May, coinciding with the 53rd Conde de Godó Sailing Trophy, which will serve as a prelude to the 2026 J/70 European Championship to be held in Barcelona next July, with record participation already confirmed.
