A half-dozen women’s teams congregated at the Zurich Sailing Club to compete for the 2022 J/70 Ladies Cup on the Zurichsee. Over the two-day weekend, racers enjoyed seven races in beautiful conditions. For the top three boats battling for the podium, it was very close racing all weekend. All three teams traded podium positions in all eight races and only counted podium positions in their final tallies. Amrei Keller’s SUI 945 team of Zoe Straub, Ela Erni and Margaret McMahon posted a record of 1-2-2-1-1-3-1 for 8 points net. It was a real battle for second since it ended up in a tiebreaker on 12 points net each. Winning the countback was Theresa Lagler’s SUI 132 crew of Brenda Schonenberger and Sigrid Sigg with a record of 2-1-3-4-3-1-2. Losing that calculation to take the bronze was Marina Osterwalder’s SUI 1420 with a crew of Sabine Ultsch, Hannah Leimert and Marlene Rump.
