An exciting duel between Paint It Black and gSpot came down to the wire, with Michael Grau’s team claiming victory by just one point after the eighth and final race of the third event of the 2026 J/70 Cup, organized by Circolo Vela Torbole in collaboration with the J/70 Italian Class. The team led by Matteo Marenghi Vaselli was unable to hold onto the comfortable lead it had built after the second day, which had also earned the Monaco-based crew the Garmin Cup. Trapped near the committee boat during the start of Race 7, gSpot finished that race in 24th place. An 11th-place finish in the final race then allowed the German team to overtake them in the overall standings. Meanwhile, Michael Grau, with outstanding support from Gonzalo Ribeiro, Willem van Waay and Florian Thoelen, posted an eighth-place and a third-place finish to close the series with 32 points—just one fewer than gSpot. Rounding out the podium was an impressive performance by White Hawk. Gianfranco Noè’s team, strengthened by the presence of Branko Brcin, sailed consistently throughout the event, finishing outside the top ten only twice. A second-place and sixth-place finish on the final day moved the team from fifth to third overall, while also securing victory in the OnePro division. As in Lerici, the top Corinthian team in Torbole was Euro-Voiles, owned by Denis Infante and helmed by Louis Barbet. The French team finished seventh overall, behind the Americans aboard Callisto (fourth), the Australians on Vamos (fifth overall and winners of the final race), and the Swedes aboard Lexie, who won the opening race of the day, but ahead of the overall J/70 Cup points leader, J-Curve of Mauro Roversi. Second and third in the Corinthian division went to Ireland’s Wildcard, helmed by Harry Twomey, and Caim, owned by Massimo Rama.
