PROYachting kicked off their 2021 Tenzor Cup Series on the Khimkin Reservoir located on the southwest side of downtown Moscow. Twenty-six teams were eager to get racing on the tactical flat-water lake, with racing hosted by the Royal Yacht Club. Six races were run despite the cold, rainy weather and shifty, unstable winds that ranged from 5-7 knots up to 16-18 knots. Returning to form to win her first regatta of the year was past Russian J/70 National Champion Valeria Kovalenko’s ARTTUBE RUS 1 team. The balance of the podium saw Andrei Pushkin’s TENZOR LEGAL take the silver medal, followed by Zoran Paunovich’s ZIDART SAILING TEAM earning the bronze. ARTTUBE RUS 1’s skipper, Valeria Kovalenko, commented at the awards, “Due to the difficult weather, the races turned out very difficult for us. Still, we made it through. This is not the first time we raced on my birthday, but it was the first time we win on my birthday! Of course, my birthday celebration didn’t affect anything, as we always take racing seriously. I’m lucky to race with a very strong team; they’re the ones that led us to victory.” For more Russian J/70 Sailing League information, https://www.facebook.com/j70rus/.
