Day two at the J/70 European Championship offered just as amazing sailing conditions as the previous day: smooth waters and a stable Northerly breeze of 6-8 knots. The final three qualifying races were conducted on both the Northerly and Southern courses in full view from Skovshoved Harbour, Copenhagen. Thursday, the 98 competing boats will race in the Silver and Gold fleets (49 boats each), with the latter competing for the title of J/70 European Champion 2021 through to Saturday, September 4. Scoring will start anew for the beginning of tomorrow’s Final Series. As six races in the Qualifying Series were completed, the discard race came into play. Maintaining hold of the leaderboard is three-time J/70 European Champion Claudia Rossi of Italy with 12 net points. Spain’s Jose Maria Torcida Seghers moved into second place overall with 17 net points. Tied on points at 18 for the next two positions are James Peters/Jonathan Calascione of Great Britain and Magnus Simon of Germany. Seventeen countries are competing in the Championship.
