Thirty-eight crews gathered in Punta Ala to take part in the final act of the J/70 Cup 2021 Series and compete for the title of Italian Champion in 2021. The regatta was sailed off the peninsula of Punta Ala, the first time the Italian J/70 Class has sailed in this venue. Starting off strongly with a 2-2-9-2-1, the DAS SAILING TEAM led by Alessandro Zampori and crew of Andrea Felci, Brank Brcin and Flavio Grassi led the fleet by a considerable margin. Their closing finishes of 21-8-8 nearly lost them the regatta, but their first two days tally saved them and enabled them to win with 32 points net. Claudia Rossi and her PETITE TERRIBLE-ADRIA FERRIES team of Matteo Mason, Sofia Attili, Giulio Desiderato and Michele Paoletti started off a bit slow on the first two days, posting a 10-18-2-10-3. However, they brought home a 1-9-1 tally on the final day to leap onto the podium and take the silver medal. Rounding out the top three was Federico Strocchi’s CHEYENNE with a 9-1-5-8-14-10-6-DNF for 53 net points. His team was comprised of Pietro Corbucci, Matteo Ivaldi and Stefano Ciampalini.
