Looking forward to their third event of the winter season was the large J/70 fleet in Argentina. The third event was the “Luis A Cerrato International Grand Prix,” hosted by Yacht Club Olivos with sailing taking place on the Rio de La Plata for the 14 entries. The YCO PRO team managed to run six races over the weekend. It was very tight, closely fought racing for the three podium positions. Winning was the Yacht Club Argentino team of SI QUERIDA, skippered by Francisco Van Avermaete with his crew composed of Carlos Lacchini, Rafael de Martis and Geronimo Galvan. Their tally of 1-2-2-3-2-3 for 10 points net meant they tossed a podium finish (third) to win the event. Nearly winning the regatta, but not able to pull it off in the last race was the Yacht Club Argentinean team on PRINCIPADO, skippered by Francisco Bellocchio with crew Guillermo Durante and Roberto Di Bernardo. Their record of 5-4-4-1-1-2 for 12 points net was not enough to overcome their slow start on the first day. Rounding out podium was BACHAJO, skippered by Javier Conte with crew of Ignacio Giammona. This team started fast, had a few roller-coaster finishes, then closed by winning the last race. They ended up winning a tiebreaker at 14 points each over Francisco Campero’s AMIGO VII. Their record of 2-1-9-7-3-1 was enough to earn the bronze medal. For more J/70 Luis A Cerrato International Grand Prix information, visit https://www.grandprixinternacional.com.ar/resultados.
