Over the October 7-10 weekend, the Yacht Club Argentino in downtown Buenos Aires hosted their annual Buenos Aires Race Week. For the 28 boats sailing in the J/70 fleet, the event had a special meaning as it was a qualifier for the 2023 J/70 World Championship that is taking place in late October in St. Petersburg, Florida. After a nine-race series, it was the duo of Francisco Bellocchio and Fernando Gwozdz on PRINCIPADO who were declared the champions of Buenos Aires Week 2022 after posting a scoreline that included four firsts and two seconds to win by a 10-point margin in the one race discard series. Second went to Guillermo Parada’s NILDO with an impressive series that counted six podium finishes. Rounding out the podium was Ezequiel Despontín’s TEAM 707, counting three bullets in their scoreline. Completing the top five were Francisco Van Avermaete’s SI QUERIDA in fourth place and Nicolas Goulu’s CHISPITA in the fifth position. For the Corinthians, it was Van Avermaete’s SI QUERIDA who won, followed by Paulo Cosentino’s NEGRONI in second and Pedro Garra’s PLAN B in third place.
