Eighty-one J/70 teams are assembling in Rochester, New York for the second annual J/70 North American Championship. Competitors from Bermuda, Brazil, Canada, Great Britain, Puerto Rico, Mexico, Sweden and the United States are invading the area as entrants complete the registration procedures and tune-up for the official start of competition on Thursday, July 17. The inaugural J/70 North American Championship was won by Heather Gregg Earl last September in Annapolis, Maryland. Heather will try to defend her title this week in Rochester against a slew of champions from various Classes. This event is also one of the final qualifiers for the first ever J/70 World Championship, taking place in Newport, Rhode Island from September 8-13.
